Why indeed? The best quality job is one that has as little obstruction as possible. The Customline originally came with an EAB series 8-cylinder 239 c.i. flat head engine. Has a bore of 3 3/16 inches, a stroke of 3 3/4 inches and is rated at 110 HP.The new 351W engine as a stocker has a 4 inch bore, a 3.5 inch stroke is rated at 149 HP.
This engine however was not an option for this vehicle and requires fitting followed by an engineers certificate. You can see the advantages of removing the front. The car will be on its way for the cutting and the grinding and the welding, and then return before Christmas. Hopefully.
